If you have been laid off from a job and it’s taking longer than you expected to find work, or maybe you are just rethinking your career. NOC COG – Area 19’s Workforce Program has valuable resources that can assist you at its three OhioMeansJobs Centers.
All three OhioMeansJobs Centers offer services such as:
- Job listings from local employers.
- On-line job search and resume assistance.
- Labor market and wage information.
- Career Planning information.
- Computer software and Internet connection.
- Workshops on topics related to job search and career planning.
- Access to training resources.
- Complimentary telephones, fax, use of copy machines and printers for job search activities.
- Direct phone lines to apply for Unemployment Insurance.
- Information about other community resources that are available to you.
Job seekers who have been laid off or lost a job can receive services for free that will help them obtain employment. Depending on individual needs, customers may receive a menu of services such as assignment of a case manager for career planning who can help with developing an employment plan, completing high school, or obtaining a GED, occupational training, skill development, supportive services and continued help after finding a job.

Our mission is to bring together local business, labor, education and citizens to assess and develop the workforce and training needs of county employers and job seekers in order to improve the economic future and quality of life for residents and businesses and the state of Ohio.
General
Area 19 in the Ohio Workforce System consists of three counties: Ashtabula, Geauga and Portage, located in northeastern Ohio. Ashtabula County’s northern border is Lake Erie and its eastern border is the state of Pennsylvania. Geauga border and Portage is contiguous to Geauga from its northern border.
